A Historic Partnership: From the Shores of Malta to the Virtual Tables

Launched in 2012, the Battle of Malta quickly earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most accessible and entertaining live events, drawing thousands of players each year to the Mediterranean shores. Known for its mid-stakes affordability and festive atmosphere, BoM has become a must-play for recreational and professional players alike.

But for the first time ever, the festival is going digital—and the timing couldn’t be better. With the partnership between ACR Poker and Casino Malta (under Olympic Entertainment Group), the 2025 edition is set to reach an even wider audience, blending European charm with the global reach of one of the most dynamic online poker platforms.

What to Expect: $5 Million Guaranteed, and Then Some

Set to run July 7–August 5, the Online Battle of Malta on ACR Poker is promising a whopping $5 Million in guarantees. This includes a $2.5 Million GTD Main Event, ensuring high-stakes excitement for all bankrolls. Buy-ins will be accessible, keeping BoM’s inclusive spirit intact.

In addition to big prize pools, players can expect:

    • Multiple qualifying satellites, starting at just a few dollars
    • A variety of formats, including Knockouts, Turbos, and DeepStacks
    • Leaderboard prizes and promotions exclusive to the BoM series
    • A chance to win Battle of Malta live packages for future events in Europe

Why This Matters: Online Poker’s Evolution

This collaboration is more than just another online series—it represents the evolution of global poker. ACR Poker, long known for its aggressive scheduling and high-roller-friendly events, now aligns with one of Europe’s most iconic grassroots festivals. The partnership enables players—especially those outside Europe—to taste the BoM experience from home.

Phil Nagy, CEO of Winning Poker Network (which operates ACR Poker), commented on the collaboration, stating that this is “not just a tournament series, but a cultural exchange between two poker worlds.”

Likewise, Slawomir Switalski, Head of Casino Malta and Battle of Malta, expressed excitement about expanding BoM’s reach beyond the Mediterranean.

Global Impact: A New Chapter for European Poker

Historically, Battle of Malta attracted players from over 50 countries. This year, with ACR’s international footprint, the reach could double. American, Latin American, and Asian grinders—many of whom may have never traveled to Malta—can now compete for titles, trophies, and six-figure paydays.

The series also bridges the online-offline divide, with plans already hinted at by organizers to offer future hybrid events, combining ACR’s platform with live festival experiences. This is part of a broader trend where major poker brands seek to create more immersive ecosystems that span live and digital.

    Why Players Are Excited

Poker forums are already buzzing with excitement. Players are eyeing the Main Event as a must-play, but many also appreciate the satellite structure and variety of formats. The ability to qualify for a flagship tournament that usually requires overseas travel, now from a living room, is a massive opportunity—especially for recreational players looking for their big break.

And with ACR Poker’s reputation for fast software, international payouts, and robust player support, expectations are high.
