    At BetterPokerNews, we believe in maintaining the highest standards of journalistic integrity, accuracy, and accountability. Today, we issue a formal correction and public apology regarding an article we published on May 26, 2025, under the headline:

    “Las Vegas Cannabis Lounges: Casino Veteran Scott Sibella Bets Big on High-End Weed Hospitality.”

    This article included false and unverified claims about Mr. Scott Sibella, a respected executive in the Las Vegas gaming industry. Specifically, we incorrectly stated that:

    • Mr. Sibella had entered the cannabis industry;
    • He had partnered with Thrive Cannabis Marketplace; and
    • He had made public comments regarding a new cannabis lounge venture.

    These statements were entirely false.

    Setting the Record Straight

    After receiving a formal communication from Mr. Sibella’s legal counsel, we conducted a full internal review. The original article misrepresented facts and cited a CardPlayer.com article that does not mention Mr. Sibella at all. Furthermore, none of the quotes attributed to him were sourced or verified.

    We now understand that Mr. Sibella:

    • Has no affiliation or business relationship with Thrive Cannabis Marketplace;
    • Has not entered the cannabis industry in any capacity; and
    • Did not make the statements attributed to him in our original publication.

    Our Official Correction

    We have since removed all references to Mr. Sibella from the original article and updated it to reflect only verified information from legitimate sources.

    You can read the corrected version of the article here:

    Our Sincere Apology

    To Mr. Scott Sibella:

    We extend our deepest apologies for the harm, confusion, and reputational damage caused by our inaccurate reporting. You were wrongfully included in a context that was neither truthful nor authorized. We take full responsibility for this mistake and are committed to ensuring it does not happen again.

    To our readers:

    We know that trust is earned, and mistakes like this can undermine it. We are grateful for your continued readership and want to reaffirm our commitment to fact-based, transparent, and responsible journalism.

    What We’re Doing Going Forward

    • We have launched a full editorial review to evaluate and improve our fact-checking protocols.
    • We are retraining our content and editorial teams on source verification and attribution standards.
    • All future articles referencing real individuals will require double-verification from primary sources.

    Mistakes in reporting can happen — but it is how we correct them that defines our integrity.

    Final Word

    BetterPokerNews exists to serve the global poker and gaming community with timely, engaging, and accurate reporting. We acknowledge this failure and hope that this public correction is a step toward restoring the trust of our readers and those we cover.

    Thank you for your understanding and continued support.— BetterPokerNews Editorial Team
