Lautaro Guerra’s $100K PLO Victory: A Lifelong Dream Fulfilled

The poker world witnessed an electrifying moment as Spanish PLO specialist Lautaro Guerra clinched his first-ever WSOP bracelet at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise. Competing in the $100K PLO Super High Roller event, Guerra overcame a field of 88 elite players to secure a career-defining win and a whopping $2,126,770 prize.

    The Winning Moment

“During the whole tournament, I had this feeling like I was going to win it, even before coming here,” Guerra revealed after his triumph. His unwavering confidence paid off as he defeated Ben Tollerene in a dramatic heads-up showdown, achieving what he described as every poker player’s ultimate dream.

    A Record-Breaking Event

The $100K PLO Super High Roller wasn’t just any tournament; it was a landmark event. With 88 entries generating a record $8.80 million prize pool, it became one of the largest PLO events in WSOP history. Guerra’s triumph now stands as the fifth-largest payout in PLO history, marking a significant milestone in his poker career.

    A Year of Success

This victory added another feather to Guerra’s cap, surpassing his previous career-best score of $518,750 from the $25,000 finale at the PokerGO Tour PLO Series. With an impressive win rate and over $4.94 million in earnings, Guerra has cemented his status as one of the world’s top PLO players.

GGMasters Online Championship: Brazil’s Matheus Machado Takes the Spotlight

The WSOP Paradise series also featured thrilling online action. Event #4: GGMasters Online Championship saw Brazil’s Matheus Cardoso Machado capture his first WSOP gold bracelet and a $432,623 prize. The $2,750 buy-in tournament, hosted on GGPoker, offered a substantial $467,500 overlay, adding significant value for the players.

Triton Main Event Draws a Star-Studded Field

The partnership between WSOP and Triton Poker brought another highlight with the $100,000 Triton Main Event. Attracting 149 entries, this year’s event surpassed the previous year’s numbers, setting the stage for intense competition. New Zealand’s David Yan emerged as the Day 1 chip leader, while India’s poker star Santhosh Suvarna aimed to turn his luck around on Day 2.

    Mini Main Event Exceeds Expectations

The $2,500 Mini Main Event also delivered on excitement, boasting 2,031 entries across five starting flights. With a $5 million guarantee, 306 players advanced to Day 2, ensuring high-stakes drama for the participants. Among them, India’s Sriharsha Doddapaneni carried a strong stack into the next stage, showcasing the global reach of the game.

The Thrills and Spills of the $100K PLO Super High Roller

From dramatic double-ups to heartbreaking bust-outs, the $100K PLO Super High Roller had it all. Poker legends like Daniel Negreanu and Chance Kornuth faced tough exits, while Veselin Karakitukov and Ben Tollerene showcased exceptional play. The final table was a rollercoaster, culminating in Guerra’s well-deserved victory.
