The Winamax Poker Open (WPO), one of Europe’s most exciting live poker festivals, is making its long-awaited French debut. From September 16–21, 2025, the Casino Grand Cercle in Aix-les-Bains will transform into a buzzing hub of poker, parties, and the unmistakable Winamax flair.

For years, the WPO has made Bratislava its playground, with last year’s record-breaking 1,516-player Main Event crowning Belgian grinder Aliosha Staes, who scooped €90,000. Now, Winamax is bringing its signature chaos to France, hoping to attract both seasoned pros and recreational players looking for more than just cards.

“We’ve built something special with the WPO in Bratislava, but it’s time to bring the festival home to France,” said a Winamax spokesperson. “Aix-les-Bains offers the perfect mix of poker, fun, and stunning Alpine scenery.”

The Heartbeat: €500 6-Max Main Event Of Winamax Poker

The centerpiece of the festival is the €500 Main Event, a 6-max format that has become the WPO’s trademark. Action kicks off with four Day 1 flights beginning on September 17, culminating in a winner on Sunday who will etch their name into WPO history.

“The 6-max format is pure action. You can’t sit back and wait for aces—you’ve got to play poker,” explained French pro Romain Lewis. “That’s what makes this event so unique and beloved.”

But the Main Event is just the start. For those who bust early—or simply want more action—the schedule is stacked with highlights:

    • €750 Battle Royale (Sept 17–18)
    • €1,000 High Roller (Sept 20–21)
    • €300 Monster Stack (Sept 20–21)

Mystery bounties, sprints, knockouts, and satellites round out a schedule designed to cater to every bankroll.

    Wed, Sept 1712 p.m.€500Main Event Day 1A (Event #4)

The schedule blends affordable events with high-stakes drama, making it a festival where recreational players can sit alongside Europe’s elite grinders.

Beyond the Felt: Beer Pong, Darts & Alpine Flavors

True to WPO tradition, the action doesn’t stop when the cards are down. The Beer Pong Open kicks things off Wednesday night, followed by darts, trivia, and other quirky competitions that have become part of the WPO identity.

“The WPO isn’t just a poker festival—it’s a social festival,” said Pierre Neuville, Belgian poker legend. “You make friends here that last long after the final card is dealt.”

Adding a French twist, organizers are introducing a food village styled like a Christmas market, offering Alpine specialties such as raclette, tartiflette, and local wines. Expect equal parts poker and party.

Winamax Poker: A Festival That Blends Poker and Party

The Winamax Poker Open has long stood out in a crowded live poker calendar for one reason: atmosphere. It’s not just about chasing trophies; it’s about building memories.

“I’ve traveled to hundreds of poker stops, but the WPO is one of a kind,” shared Leo Margets, Team Winamax pro. “Where else can you bust the Main Event, grab a beer, and end up in a darts tournament with strangers who become friends?”

With its first French edition set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Alps, this year’s WPO promises to be bigger, louder, and more unforgettable than ever.
