    The APT Phu Quoc 2024 is well underway on the beautiful island of Phu Quoc, Vietnam, with the action heating up at the Corona Resort & Casino. The festival’s opening highlight, the Vietnam National Cup, has completed its six qualifying rounds, drawing in a massive 579 entries. After intense play, the field has been narrowed down to just 84 contenders, with India’s Kunal Patni holding a commanding lead into the Final Day. In another exciting event, the APT Super High Roller is down to its final 13 players, with Singapore’s The Naing leading the pack.

    Kunal Patni Dominates the Vietnam National Cup

    The Vietnam National Cup saw six flights of action over the past two days, attracting a total of 579 entries. With a guaranteed prize pool of VND 5,000,000,000 (~USD 197,820), the event quickly gained traction, drawing a mix of seasoned pros and eager newcomers. After each flight, only the top 14% of players advanced, leaving 84 to return for the final day of action.

    Among the field, Kunal Patni emerged as the standout performer, dominating Flight D and bagging an impressive 804,000 chips, securing a significant lead over the rest of the field. He was the top chip leader across all flights, with his nearest competitor, Obaidullah Habibi from Canada, holding a stack of 530,000 chips. Japan’s Shimizu Nozomu rounded out the top three with 499,000 chips, just five big blinds behind Habibi.

    Patni’s commanding position means he will enter the Final Day as the favorite for the VND 966,530,000 (~USD 38,050) top prize. Meanwhile, all returning players are guaranteed a minimum payout of VND 15,650,000 (~USD 620).

    The Naing Leads APT Phu Quoc 2024 Super High Roller Final Thirteen

    Over in the APT Super High Roller, 55 elite players gathered for the prestigious VND 120,000,000 (~USD 4,745) buy-in event, surpassing its VND 3,000,000,000 (~USD 118,690) guarantee. After 16 intense levels of play, only 13 players remain, each eyeing the top prize of VND 1,728,540,000 (~USD 68,390).

    Singapore’s The Naing holds the chip lead with a commanding 2,640,000 chips, closely followed by Denmark’s Martin Stausholm, who has 2,340,000. Not far behind is Austria’s Manuel Blaschke, with 1,195,000 chips, and Malaysia’s Win Meng Tan, who holds 1,125,000.

    The action in this high-stakes event is expected to heat up, with only eight players guaranteed to earn a payday from the event’s VND 5,761,800,000 (~USD 226,840) prize pool.
