In a historic finale at the Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas, 24-year-old Yinan Zhou became the first-ever World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise Super Main Event champion. Zhou triumphed over 1,978 entries in the $25,000 buy-in event, claiming an astonishing $6,000,000 and his first WSOP gold bracelet.

    From Fan to Champion

Growing up in China, Yinan Zhou idolized poker legend Justin Bonomo, even mimicking his table posture. This dream turned reality as Yinan Zhou not only shared the final table with Bonomo but eliminated him en route to victory. “I played at the final table with my idol and busted him,” Yinan Zhou shared. “That’s awesome.”

Yinan Zhou also made headlines by pulling off a daring bluff against Michael Addamo, a former “Players Choice for Toughest Opponent” nominee, proving his mettle against some of poker’s toughest competitors.

Liv Boeree Shines and Sets Records

Adding to the drama, Liv Boeree, a science communicator and former PokerStars ambassador, claimed fourth place, earning $2,800,000—setting a record for the largest cash prize ever won by a woman in a live tournament. Boeree’s incredible run, despite her rare tournament appearances, was a highlight of the series.

    A Star-Studded Final Table

The event drew poker’s elite, with Justin Bonomo, Mustapha Kanit, and Michael Addamo battling it out at the final table. Bonomo, who finished seventh for $1,300,000, made waves both for his gameplay and his vocal support for Palestinian causes. Meanwhile, Brazil’s Marcelo Aziz turned a freeroll into a remarkable second-place finish, taking home $4,600,000.

Yinan Zhou Takes Pride in Representing China

Yinan Zhou, the second Chinese bracelet winner of the series, expressed his pride in representing his country on the global stage. “I take pride in my country,” he said. “Maybe this year is very good for us Chinese players.” Yinan Zhou’s fearless bluffing and calm demeanor were on full display, earning him a victory he attributed to his relentless pursuit of improvement since starting poker in 2018.

The Bluff That Defined the Tournament

Yinan Zhou’s standout moment came with seven players remaining when he raised Addamo’s turn bet holding just ace-high. Addamo, with top pair, called but eventually folded to Yinan Zhou’s river aggression, proving Yinan Zhou’s willingness to risk it all for the win. “I came here for the win. I’m not here to fold,” Yinan Zhou explained.

As the WSOP Paradise Super Main Event wrapped up, it marked an unforgettable chapter in poker history.
