Day 21 of the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) didn’t crown a champion, but the air at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas was anything but still. Instead of final hand celebrations, it was the anticipation that crackled through the poker halls. From the jaw-dropping chip lead built by Belgium’s Thomas Boivin in the $250,000 Super High Roller to a deep run by Dylan Linde in the Monster Stack, the day was about positioning, patience, and high-stakes poker drama.

Let’s walk you through the biggest developments from June 16 at the WSOP.

Boivin Towers Over Final Eight in the $250K Super High Roller

When the cards hit the felt in Event #46: $250,000 Super High Roller, the field was already down to its elite core. After two intense days, Thomas Boivin has emerged as the commanding chip leader with 28,025,000 chips, nearly double that of his closest competitor. Having already banked $1.2 million for a third-place finish in last week’s $100K High Roller, Boivin looks poised to smash his personal best with the $4.75 million top prize in reach.

Also in contention are Ben Tollerene (15,450,000) and Alex Foxen (14,525,000), with Foxen eliminating Daniel Negreanu in ninth place to set the final table. Powerhouses like Seth Davies, Bryn Kenney, and David Peters round out a final eight packed with poker royalty.

With Day 3 resuming at 2:00 p.m. on June 17, the eyes of the poker world will be fixed on this event as one of these legends walks away with one of the largest prizes of the 2025 WSOP.

Dylan Linde Deep in Monster Stack Hunt

Event #37: $1,500 Monster Stack is known for its massive fields and massive paydays, and this year’s edition saw nearly 10,000 entries. As the dust settles with 54 players remaining, all chasing the $1,204,457 first-place prize, it’s Dylan Linde grabbing the headlines.

With 12,575,000 chips, Linde may not be the chip leader—those honors go to Santiago Montes (21,900,000) and Ashish Gupta (21,750,000)—but he’s the only bracelet winner left in the field. Already a Fantasy Draft pick and former $1,500 Omaha Mixed champion, Linde is hungry to make another deep run after finishing fourth in the $2,500 NLHE earlier in the series.

The Monster Stack resumes at 11:00 a.m. and will likely play down to a champion by day’s end.

Marco Johnson and Viktor Blom Chase Big O Glory

One of the most exciting finales set for Day 22 is Event #44: $10,000 Big O Championship, where Marco Johnson leads a final five full of flair. Johnson, who last won a bracelet in 2015, sits atop the leaderboard with 5,950,000 chips.

Trailing closely is none other than Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, whose 5,095,000 chips give him every chance to disrupt the leaderboard. Also in the mix are Veerachai Vongxaiburana, Shawn Rice, and Phil Hui. With such a tightly packed final table, anything could happen when play resumes at 1:00 p.m.

Joey Couden Marches in $500 Salute to Warriors

Only 10 players remain in Event #45: $500 Salute to Warriors, and it’s Joey Couden leading the way with 14,375,000 chips. The 2018 $1,500 PLO Hi-Lo bracelet winner is the only remaining champion in the field and holds 36 big blinds—plenty of ammunition given the short stack nature of this endgame.

The structure of this event promises quick action and big swings when Day 3 resumes at 11:00 a.m. Keep an eye on Jaehyun Park, Sebastian Medina, and Luciano Melo as serious threats to Couden’s lead.

    Star-Studded Field in $2.5K Omaha/Stud Hi-Lo

Event #47: $2,500 Omaha Hi-Lo/Stud Hi-Lo is quietly becoming one of the most stacked events of the series. With 27 players left, the chip lead belongs to Tobias Hausen (2,005,000), followed closely by Shirley Rosario (1,745,000).

But the real heat comes further down the leaderboard. Benny Glaser, Shaun Deeb, Ryan Hughes, Brian Rast, and Phil Hellmuth are all still in contention. Any of these names could walk away with the bracelet, and we may be in for a classic finish when play resumes at 1:00 p.m.

Barbara Enright Shines in Seniors Championship

Poker Hall of Famer Barbara Enright is making another deep run, this time in Event #48: $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold’em Championship. Enright bagged 244,500 chips, good enough for a top 30 finish on Day 1a, which saw 3,675 entries and only 621 players advance.

Steven Snyder topped the Day 1a chip counts with 925,000, followed by Timothy Peters (575,000) and Alan Gould (437,500). Other notables moving on include Ivo Donev, Men Nguyen, and Huck Seed.

Day 1b kicks off at 10:00 a.m. and is expected to draw an even larger crowd.

Ori Hasson Leads $3K 6-Max Freezeout After Day 1

In Event #49: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout, Israel’s Ori Hasson ended Day 1 with the chip lead, amassing 3,665,000 chips—a wide lead over Matthew Wantman (2,355,000).

The event drew 1,421 entries, and only 69 players made it to Day 2. Other big stacks include Tyler Patterson, Tyler Cornell, and Vladas Tamasauskas, while poker stalwarts like Chris Moorman, Paul Volpe, and Davidi Kitai also remain in contention.

Maxx Coleman Dominates Early in the $10K Razz Championship

Last but not least, Event #50: $10,000 Razz Championship kicked off with 102 entries, and Maxx Coleman emerged from Day 1 with a commanding lead, bagging 319,500 chips. The two-time bracelet winner is hunting for his third deep run of the 2025 WSOP.

Close behind are Sebastian Pauli, Eric Rodawig, Max Pescatori, and John Racener. With registration still open for the first two levels of Day 2, we may see a few more big names jump in.

What to Expect on Day 22 of the 2025 WSOP

With ten events running, June 17 promises to be one of the busiest and most pivotal days yet:

    • $250K Super High Roller will crown a champion.
    • Big O, Salute to Warriors, and Omaha/Stud Hi-Lo events will also likely conclude.
    • $25K PLO High Roller (Event #51) begins at noon.
    • $1,500 NLHE Freezeout (Event #52) kicks off at 2:00 p.m.

As bracelet races heat up and Player of the Year standings start to take shape, the 2025 WSOP enters its most thrilling phase yet. Stay tuned to BetterPokerNews for all your WSOP 2025 updates, live chip counts, and player spotlights.
